It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Toni Dennis.
Toni joined Giles Lifesaving and Rescue Squad in 1983 and served for 39 years and was also a Life Member. Toni was a retired Giles County Sheriff's Office Dispatcher and previously worked at the Celanese Plant before becoming a dispatcher.
As a lifelong resident of Giles County, she knew just about everyone in the county, and everyone knew Toni. She was easy to talk to, caring, and very honest with everyone no matter who it was. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, co-workers, and fellow rescue squad members.
We ask that you keep the family and our crew in your thoughts and prayers as we move through this difficult time.
Rest In Peace Toni, we’ll take it from here.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Davis.
Steve joined the Giles County Life Saving and Rescue Squad when he was fifteen years old and served faithfully for over fifty years. He was a lifetime member and Hall of Fame member of the VAVRS. As a youth he was baptized into the Christian faith in Narrows. He was retired from the Celanese Plant and The State of Virginia Health Dept, was a member of the Celco Fire Brigade and Giles County Hazmat Team.
We ask that you keep the family and our crew in your thoughts and prayers as we move through this difficult time.
Rest In Peace Steve, we’ll take it from here.
As I perform my duties Lord
Whatever be the call.
Help to guide and keep me safe
From danger big and small.
I want to serve and do my best,
No matter what the scene.
I pledge to keep my skills refined,
My judgment quick and keen.
This calling to give of myself,
Most do not understand.
But I stand ready all the time,
To help my fellow man.
To have the chance to help a child,
Restore his laugh with glee.
A word of thanks I may not hear,
But knowing is enough for me.
The praise of men is fine for some
But I feel truly blessed,
That you, Oh Lord have chosen me
To serve in EMS.
